Welcome, Volunteer Groups!

HSCC loves to work with companies and organizations who want to support animals and our community! Group Volunteer Days can help us tackle some of our biggest and most necessary tasks, and we are grateful for our community's help. If your business, school, or community group is passionate about animals, Group Volunteer Days are a great way to get involved and make a direct impact.

About Group Volunteer Days:

• To schedule your Group Volunteer Day, please complete the form below
• Can be scheduled for any 3-4 hour period outside of our regular adoption center hours
• Groups may bring up to 15 individuals (individuals must be at least 16 years old)
• All participants must be wearing long pants, close-toed shoes, and preferable items of clothing they don’t mind getting dirty

What to expect

The presence of animal fur, animal dander, and peanut butter can be found throughout our facility. Please plan accordingly to ensure that you have a safe visit.

Please note that there is no guaranteed animal interaction, as many of the dogs or cats may become stressed or anxious when meeting new people. To ensure safe & stress-free animal handling and interactions, individual volunteers complete training before they work directly with our animals. If you’re interested in working with animals regularly, you can apply to become an individual volunteer.

Group Volunteer Tasks & Projects 

Volunteer groups assist us with our lifesaving work by sterilizing our animals' toys, laundry, and dishes, organizing our food storage room, sorting community donations, stocking our Community Pet Food Shelf, and general cleaning. Every bit of help we can get with these kinds of tasks means more time that our staff can spend helping our animals with enrichment, training, and finding homes! 

Past groups have also assisted with special projects such as building garden beds to grow fresh greens for our small animals, renovating our community cat enclosures, and painting our adoption center. If your group is interested in working on a special project, please let us know in the Statement of Interest box of the application below. Group volunteer assignments and projects may vary based on your group's abilities and the needs of the shelter.    

Donations & other ways to help

Our organization depends on your generosity to continue our mission! To make your group's impact go even further, please consider pairing your Group Volunteer Day with a donation to help our animals. Past volunteer group donations have included: 

• Making a monetary donation to sustain the life-saving work of our shelter and Community Pet Clinic
• Hosting a company-wide supply drive to collect food, toys, and other essential items, dropped off on a Group Volunteer Day (you can view our most needed items on our Wish List)
• Providing supplies and tools to complete any specific projects planned for a Group Volunteer Day
• Supporting one of our adoptable animals with a Heart-To-Heart Sponsorship
• Making a team's mark on HSCC through a Guardian Angel placard or Slate Tile in the HSCC lobby
