Camp Paw Paw is the place for kids who are wild about animals.
The mission of the Humane Society of Chittenden County is to foster compassionate treatment of animals and prevent animal suffering; to strengthen the human-animal bond; and to further the cause of responsible animal ownership through education and public awareness. According to the ASPCA, “At its most basic level, humane education is about learning to care for the animals in our homes and communities. It is about fostering kindness, respect and empathy for both human and nonhuman animals, and looking after the environment and its diverse habitats. Unlike science and other academic disciplines, humane education has a philosophical component that strives to establish a sense of responsibility and make the world a better, more humane place.”

Camp Paw Paw offers a unique learning experience for children who share one thing in common: their love for animals. During camp, children will
learn about a wide variety of topics including: proper pet care, animal safety, homeless animals in our community, animal-related careers, HSCC’s mission, and much more!
Each topic will be led by professionals in animal—related fields. Through different activities and lessons, campers will develop the skills and confidence to become knowledgeable animal
caretakers and ambassadors for animal welfare. Campers will leave with a better understanding of the unique bond that exists between humans and animals.
Camp Paw Paw 2021 offers three different age groups: 5-6, 7-9 and 10-12 year olds.
