Special Considerations:
When I first met Jack, formerly known as Jacko, he was very nervous, shy, and wary of new people. But it was clear he had made friends with the wonderful staff at HSCC. My partner and I went into a room with him to get some one on one time, and see if it would be the right fit. At first, he was a little stand offish, not wanting to be there but to be with the people he already knew. However, I had a good feeling that if I gave him a little time, treats and some love, he would warm up to us. We were given lots of treats, hot dogs to be exact, which are still one of his favorites! After about 15 minutes he started to warm up to me, and eventually hopped in my lap and gave me kisses. Just like my childhood rescue dog when we had first met. Talk about nostalgia! At that point I knew he was the one and that we had to give this little guy a chance and a good loving home.
Since February 2022, Jack has been living his best life here with us. We have two kitties, Thor and Loki, and he thoroughly enjoys playing with them, lounging in the windows or on the bed with them. He isn’t as fond of car rides as he is bouncing around outside. He may be a little older and grouchy at times, but boy is he just full of love! As much as he’s an emotional support to me, I’m just as much his emotional support person too. And honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way! I am so happy to have found Jack and I think he’s just as happy if not more.
